HOW TO APPLY - GENERAL GUIDELINES
The following information is applicable to all grant programs administered by Rotary Charities. All of the information on this page can be found in our updated General Guidelines Packet.
Rotary Charities makes grants in 4 categories:
- CAPITAL PROJECTS to help with the renovation, expansion or construction of needed community facilities or acquisition of property for public use. Awards range from $5,000 to $100,000+.
- PROGRAM GRANTS to promote innovative, grass-roots approaches to community issues that represent new methods of delivering programs or services that have a measurable impact. Awards range from $5,000 to $99,000.
- ORGANIZATIONAL CAPACITY BUILDING to strengthen the operating capabilities of nonprofit organizations, improving their ability to better meet the needs of their communities. Awards range from $5,000 to $50,000. ORGANIZATIONAL CAPACITY BUILDING PLANNING AND ASSESSMENT to assist nonprofit organizations by providing board training and organziational capacity assessments. Awards range from $500 to $8,000.

PLANNING GRANTS to assist nonprofits develop successful strategies for programs and capital projects. Awards range from $500 to $5,000.
Before beginning the Grant Application process, identify what grant category is most appropriate. There are separate guidelines, criteria and processes for each category: Capital, Program, Organizational Capacity Building and Planning. The Rotary Charities staff is available to assist in determining the correct grant category for the organization’s needs.
Pre-application telephone conversations are strongly encouraged for all grant requests. The Rotary Charities staff is available to discuss the proposed project and provide assistance with the proposal process. All grant applicants should submit a complete proposal and include all required attachments; applications are required to submitted electronically at http://rotarycharities.egrant.net Please contact the staff if you need assistance with the electronic submission process.
The Application Process
Applications must be submitted electronically using the Rotary Charities online application form. Refer to the timeline below for deadlines.
All applications and attachments must be submitted electronically. A mailed-in hard copy IS NOT REQUIRED. If attachments are required that are not available in electronic format, please mail those to Rotary Charities, 202 E. Grandview Parkway, Suite 200, Traverse City, MI 49684. PDF format is preferred, but not required.

Timeline for PLANNING Proposals:
Proposals for Capital and Program Planning Grants and Organizational Capacity Building Planning and Assessment Grants ($5,000 or less) will be accepted and reviewed throughout the year, with deadlines the first of each month; decisions will be made within 45 days of submission.
